What is the Place2Be?

  • The Place2Be is a national charity working in over 110 primary schools across the UK.
  • The Place2Be helps children feel good about themselves.
  • When children feel good about themselves they are more able to learn.
  • There is a special Place2Be room in the school that is equipped with art and play materials.

 

Who is the Place2Be for?

  • Children who have experienced lots of change in their lives.
  • Children whose family is managing something difficult, such as separation, illness or death.
  • Children who want to feel more confident in friendships.
  • Children who behave in withdrawn or challenging ways.

 

The Place2Be aims to help...

  • encourage confidence.
  • nurture independence.
  • raise children's self-esteem.

 

How the Place2Be works

The Place2Be provides:

  • an environment where children can express their feelings safely.
  • an appropriately trained adult who can help the child gain understanding.
  • time for children to feel considered and supported.

 

A guide to services from the Place2Be

 

 

The Place2Talk

  • Operates during lunchtime.
  • Short sessions.
  • Children refer themselves.
  • Individual children or groups.
  • Time to be heard.

 

The Place2Be

  • Works with children in a small group for one hour a week over a period of eight weeks.
  • Works with children on a one-to-one basis for 50 minutes a week during school time for a term or up to a year
