Punctuality |
As well as good school attendance, it is equally important to ensure that children arrive for school on time.
We ask all parents/carers and children to note that all pupils should be in class by 9.00am at the beginning of each school day. After registration has closed at 9.10am, all pupils should register at the school office. Our breakfast club opens at 8.00am and welcomes parents/carers to join their children in morning activities until 8.55am.
We believe that the start of the school day is a very important time for children. It is a time when pupils and teachers can settle into and make a positive and organised start to the challenges of a new day. Persistent lateness establishes a poor routine for the children and does not allow teachers to make a prompt and effective start to their day. It is disruptive and unhelpful. Please help us and your child make a positive start to the day by ensuring your child is in school by 8.55am, perhaps by leaving home just a few minutes earlier.
Did you know that by being 30 minutes late every day for school you miss....
- 2½ hours per week of lessons
- That is 4 days missed each term
- Which is 12 days of school a year
- AND.... being 1 hour late doubles this to 8 days a term
- Which is 24 days a year!
Poem
I'll just have ten minutes in this lovely warm bed,
I can't get the comb through the hair on my head.
I can't find my folder, my pens or my shoes,
I don't really know which trainers to use.
I'll just watch some telly then put on my clothes,
I'll then wash my face and blow my runny nose.
I'll go round to my friends house for the journey to school,
but there's nobody in, I feel such a fool.
I'm going to try harder to be on time for school
